Description

considering that i love both monochrome and macro photography, it was really a matter of time before i combined those two for serious :]

. . .

so after getting into long and complicated discussions with several groups on dA and finding out why some of them actually decided to decline this photograph from being submitted in their galleries, i decided to add an additional explanation here.

the thing is (and i want everyone to be aware of this when looking at this photograph), that this shot was done on purpose exactly like you see it now. if you'll have a look at the other photos from that same photoshoot you'll see, that the other ones have a completly different grayscale, contrast and focus, this one was special, it was different, it was not a mistake or lack of skill - it was a decission i made.

i was looking for the best way to get something completly different out of the photograph, to bring out the atmosphere of sadness, of resignation, of being lost in the blandness of reality. if this shot was all sharp and focused etc it would count as a quality macro, but it wasn't intended as just a macro, it was intended as a sort of concept, it was meant to show more of a feeling, an emotion, a spirit of sort, not just simply a flower, and i believe that it has done just that. this one is meant to be looked at with a heart as a guide, not a good-digital-photography-manual.

it's not always just about doing things by the book and doing them the way everyone else does.
